Temperatures are expected to be near to just above freezing at the onset of precipitation early Saturday morning, so a brief period of sleet and freezing rain is possible, which could result in slippery spots on untreated surfaces. The most likely time frame for any possible frozen precipitation is 4-10 am Saturday, with plain rain showers likely during the afternoon and evening. Most areas will see a coating to 3 inches, although some higher terrain areas within Herkimer, Hamilton, Fulton, Bennington and Windham Counties will see 3 to 6 inches. This snowfall will result in slippery conditions across the entire region, impacting the morning commute on Thursday. A briefing package is attached to this email.
