Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,
A Winter Weather Advisory for patchy freezing drizzle and freezing mist is in effect for the Mohawk Valley, Schoharie Valley, Helderbergs, Capital Region, eastern Catskills, northern and central Taconics and the Berkshires through 10 AM. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for the western and central Adirondacks through 1 PM.
A nearby frontal boundary is allowing for patchy freezing drizzle and mist this morning. Although the precipitation is light and spotty, a thin glaze of ice may form, especially on untreated and elevated surfaces. This icing will result in locally slippery travel until temperatures fully rise above freezing later today. Areas of light icing could persist on untreated ground surfaces for several hours after temperatures rise above freezing, given our recent extreme cold spell.
