Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,

Hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels are expected to create dangerous heat conditions Friday, Saturday & Sunday with the most oppressive conditions expected Saturday.

An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Saturday for the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys, the southern Taconics and Litchfield County.  Heat Advisories will likely be needed for portions of eastern New York and Western New England Friday and Sunday.

There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.  Any thunderstorms that occur Friday could contain large hail and damaging winds.  If damaging thunderstorm winds or lightning cause power outages and a loss of air conditioning, people will be more vulnerable to the dangerous heat.
