Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,
A slow-developing storm system will bring a mix of precipitation to the area Monday into Tuesday.
- Snow with a possible a wintry mix can be expected north of I-90 Monday into Tuesday, with as much as 5 to 8 inches of snow possible in the southern Adirondacks and western Mohawk Valley.
- South of I-90 accumulations of snow and/or ice will be lighter, but falling temperatures with wintry precipitation could cause hazardous travel conditions for the Tuesday morning commute.
A winter storm watch has been posted for the southern Adirondacks and western Mohawk Valley for Monday into Tuesday morning. A winter weather advisory may be needed for much of the rest of the eastern New York, southern Vermont, and western Massachusetts.
In addition, temperatures will fall late Monday night and Tuesday, so that moisture on area roadways could freeze, causing slippery conditions regardless of snowfall amounts.
A small shift in the expected track of this storm will shift the rain, snow and ice areas, so stay tuned for further updates.
