Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,
Windy and cold conditions forecast for tonight with many areas seeing wind chills below zero.
A light snowfall is still expected Thursday night into Friday morning which may impact the Friday morning commute.
A significant winter storm is expected impact the region this weekend with a moderate to possibly heavy snowfall. There is still uncertainty in the forecast in terms of snowfall accumulations, sleet/freezing rain amounts and the exact track of the storm. The time frame for greatest impacts is Saturday late afternoon into Sunday evening. There is a greater potential for a wintry mix of precipitation for areas south and east of the Greater Capital Region with mainly snow north and west.
A
dangerously cold air mass and well below zero wind chills are possible Sunday into Monday in the wake of this storm. Wind Chills between -10 and -40F are expected Sunday night into Monday morning.
