This is an update on the potential for some light snow/ice accretion tonight in the high terrain. There are no major changes to the previous forecast.
WHAT/WHERE:
- Light wintry mix (snow/sleet/freezing rain) potential tonight in the high terrain of the Worcester Hills and the east slopes of the Berkshires. Ice accretion of a trace to less than one tenth of an inch possible.
WHEN:
- Precipitation overspreads the region from west to east on this evening between 5 and 9 pm. Rain is expected for most of Southern New England, but some light snow/sleet/freezing rain will be possible in the high terrain of the Worcester Hills and east slopes of the Berkshires.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS:
- Most ice accretion will occur on trees, but a few slippery spots are possible at elevations over 1000 feet and particularly near 1500 feet.
- Ice accretion amounts will not be high enough to result in any power outages.
- Precipitation will change to rain overnight in all locations. Temperatures will rise well into the 50s and 60s by Sunday afternoon.
