Good afternoon,

Attached is our updated one-page briefing highlighting the potential for flooding across portions of southern New England from Thursday afternoon through early Friday afternoon.

Since this morning, a Flood Watch has been issued for the entire state of Connecticut from 2 PM Thursday through 2 PM Friday. This watch may be expanded if confidence increases in higher rainfall totals across neighboring Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island.

We continue to anticipate widespread rainfall of 1–2 inches, with localized totals of 3–4 inches possible. Areas receiving 3–4 inches are at the greatest risk for flooding, particularly the hilly terrain of northern and western Connecticut. While rises on small streams and creeks to bankfull are possible, no flooding is anticipated on mainstem rivers.

Drier conditions are expected by Friday afternoon and will continue into the upcoming weekend.

You can expect your next briefing by 8 AM Thursday.

Best,
Torry Dooley, Francis Tarasiewicz, Frank Nocera, and Kyle Pederson
