Thursday afternoon and early evening there is the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms across portions of southern New England.  Here are the details...

What ... potential scattered strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail along with a low probability of an isolated tornado.

Where ... greatest threat is across Connecticut, western-central Massachusetts and possibly into RI

When ... approximately 2 pm to 9 pm

Forecast Confidence ... there is uncertainty on the exact area of greatest risk for severe thunderstorms.  This will hinge on the precise location of a warm front across the region Thursday.  Nonetheless, this could be a high end severe weather event.  Stay tuned to later forecasts for updated trends.
