Risk for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon continues. No major changes were made with this update.
Where
All of southern New England but the greatest threat across CT, RI and southeast MA.
Threats
Damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy downpours
When
Noon to 8 PM
Confidence
Confidence is above average for at least a few strong to severe thunderstorms. However there is uncertainty if the severe storms will be more widespread. For example, will storms organize into a squall line and impact a larger area? At the very least we are expecting a few strong to severe storms.
Attachments
SPC has kept southern New England in a slight risk, which indicates the potential for scattered strong to severe storms. If confidence increases on more widespread severe weather SPC may increase the risk from slight to enhanced. Also attached is a model radar simulation (not to be exact) indicating how storms may evolve this afternoon. The loop begins at 11 am and ends at 8 pm.
