Since our Friday afternoon briefing, there have been no major changes to the forecast, but confidence continues to increase for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon across the interior of southern New England. Attached is our final one-page briefing for this event. We will send a short update via email this afternoon if any notable changes develop.

Key Points:

• Greatest risk: Western/central MA and western CT.

• Timing:

  • Storms may develop along the NY border as early as 12–2 PM.

  • Strongest storms expected 2–7 PM across interior southern New England.

  • Weakening storms approach the Boston–Providence corridor 7–10 PM.

• Hazards:

  • Damaging straight-line winds (downed trees, power lines, potential structural damage).

  • Localized flash flooding.

  • Hail and frequent lightning.

  • Low, but non-zero tornado risk.
