Here is an updated briefing on the strong west winds and gusts late tonight into Tuesday night. 

Bottom line up front: Period of strong to locally damaging wind gusts expected late tonight through Tuesday night, with peak gusts most likely during the day Tuesday. 

What has changed: 
Timing: 
  • Strong gusts develop late tonight from west to east, continuing through Tuesday night. 
  • Peak gusts most likely during the day Tuesday [~9 AM-3 PM]. 
Wind Gusts: 
  • Sustained winds 20-30 mph with gusts 45-60 mph. Highest gusts over the higher terrain of interior Massachusetts. 
Confidence: 
  • High confidence of gusts up to at least 45 mph. 
  • Moderate confidence for gusts up to 60 mph for higher terrain.
