Good morning,
Here is the latest briefing for the significant winter storm which is expected to impact the region Monday night into Wednesday morning.
What has changed:
- Winter Storm watches have been expanded across all SNE west of the I-95 corridor.
- High Wind Watch issued for east coastal MA from Cape Ann to Cape Cod for Tue into Tue night.
Snow accumulation will vary greatly with elevation with the heaviest amounts over the Berkshires, Worcester Hills into the hills of northwest CT. The greatest uncertainty is how much snow will accumulate in the valleys and the I-95 corridor as rain changes to snow Tuesday. The timing of the changeover and surface temps will be critical.
The combination of heavy wet snow and gusty winds will result in the risk for power outages.
Strong to damaging winds may impact the eastern MA coast so high wind watches were issued. In addition, coastal flooding may impact the shoreline, and coastal flood headlines may be issued today. Stay tuned for additional updates. This has the potential to be a high impactful event for portions of the area. Attached are supporting graphics to this forecast.
