Good afternoon:
A very complicated snowfall forecast across southern New England this afternoon. Significant precipitation is expected, some of which will be in the form of heavy, wet snow. Snow accumulations will be very elevation-dependent. This will mean sharp gradients between those that receive snowfall, and those that are mostly rain.
With such marginal temperatures to support snowfall in the lower levels of the atmosphere, a small change to the temperatures could mean a large difference in snowfall. We will continue to monitor trends closely through this event.
