Good morning everyone...
We just wanted to give one final update in regards to the accumulating snow that is underway across southern New England. No significant changes in the prior snowfall forecast. 2-4" of snow expected across RI/SE MA with perhaps some localized 5-6" amounts near the south coast. 1-3" of snow in the Hartford/Springfield, to Worcester, to the Boston metro areas. And a coating to 2" north of the MA Turnpike.
We did want to highlight that the snow will linger a bit longer than expected yesterday. While accumulating snow should end by lunchtime across western MA/northern CT...it should linger into the afternoon elsewhere particularly across eastern MA . In fact...snow showers may linger into the evening hours on the immediate eastern MA coast and especially Cape Cod and the Islands.
Overall...hourly snowfall rates will be on the lighter side with this event...generally less than 1" per hour. There might be a short window near the south coast and Cape Cod where snowfall rates to approach an inch per hour, but generally expect snow rates to be quite manageable.
Attached is the latest snowfall forecast as well as a graphic indicating where the Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.
