Here is an update on the potential strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The overall threat remains about the same as what was forecast yesterday.

WHAT/WHEN:
  • A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today between 2 pm and 9 pm.
WHERE:
  • The threat is mainly to the northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor.  The highest risk appears to be across Western/Central MA and Northern CT
POTENTIAL IMPACTS:
  • Localized damaging wind gusts and large hail
  • Low risk of a tornado
  • Torrential rainfall may result in localized street flooding
UNCERTAINTY:  
  • The coverage of severe weather appears isolated, but there is a low risk that a few localized areas experience a significant impact.
