Good afternoon everyone,

We just wanted to give  a heads up on the likelihood for a wintry mix to impact portions of our region during the Thursday morning commute.  While specifics need to be ironed out, below is an outline with our current expectations.

- Sleet and Freezing rain along with the potential for a period of snow at the onset.

- The potential exists for a brief period of snow/ice across the entire region. However, the concern for a prolonged period of wintry precipitation will be northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor especially across interior Massachusetts and northern Connecticut.

- Precipitation starts between 1 and 7 AM  Thursday morning.  A wintry mix will change to rain by late Thursday morning across eastern MA/RI, but icing may continue into Thursday afternoon across portions of interior MA and northern CT.

- Snow accumulations of a dusting to 3 inches with the greatest risk for snow in northern MA.  Ice accretion of a few hundredths up to one quarter of an inch possible.

- Confidence is high that precipitation begins as a wintry mix to the northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor with an impact to the Thursday morning commute. 

- Along and southeast of the Boston to Providence corridor, the potential exists for a brief wintry mix at the onset but will likely be short-lived with a change to rain.

- Confidence is lower as to whether or not there is any snow at the onset or if precipitation begins as just sleet and freezing rain. Greatest risk for a few inches of snow will be across northern MA.

- Icing may persist into Thursday afternoon across portions of interior MA & northern CT, but most locations should change to rain by early Thursday evening.

- The potential of exceeding one quarter of an inch of ice accretion is rather low at this time.
