Hi everyone,
Here is the latest briefing on Tropical Storm Elsa. Primary concerns are heavy rain to the north/west of where it tracks, strong winds south/east of the track, rough marine conditions, and an increase in surf and rip currents along south coastal areas.
Confidence is increasing that this will be a lower-end tropical storm for our area. The track has shifted slightly to the west, putting the greatest threat of 2-3+ inches of rain in central/western MA and portions of northern CT and northern RI.
We continue to monitor its progress and updated forecasts issued by the National Hurricane Center (which come out at 5am, 11am, 5pm and 11pm daily). You can see the latest forecast information on the
NHC webpage or our
local tropical page.
Our next update will be emailed out around 6 PM this afternoon.
Thanks,
Glenn Field, Warning Coordination Meteorologist
