Good morning.

There is a Marginal risk of Severe Thunderstorms in Southern New England today.  The air is not as unstable as yesterday but could still produce isolated damaging weather.  Also a large amount of water remains available to produce heavy downpours. 

WHAT/WHEN:
  • Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms with the main risk from 2 to 10 pm.
WHERE:
  • All of southern New England is at risk, but the greatest risk is the eastern half of Massachusetts (Worcester County and east), all of Rhode Island, and Northern Connecticut. 
POTENTIAL IMPACTS:
  • Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat
  • Heavy downpours from thunderstorms could cause a local flash flood threat.
  • Large hail is a secondary threat.
  • Low risk for an isolated tornado.
  • Dangerous cloud to ground lightning will pose a risk to those with outdoor activities, including mariners and beach goers.
