Good morning,
A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is still forecast Sunday through early Monday. Please see the attached images that highlight the latest forecast thinking and possible trends.
What / Where / When ...
- Wintry mix of snow / sleet / freezing rain across the N&W interior of MA & CT
- Onset early Sunday morning
- Will see a gradual transition towards the Berkshires and Worcester Hills Sunday into Sunday evening of the wintry mix to rain
- Areas in and around the Berkshires and Worcester Hills may remain as a wintry mix throughout the event Sunday into Sunday evening
- Minor snow / sleet accumulations of a coating up to around 1 to 2 inches are forecast, as well as ice accretion of a trace up to a tenth of an inch
- Wintry mix will make for travel impacts in regards to slick roadways and reductions to visibility
- Transition back over to snow across mainly MA, especially E/NE MA
- Sunday evening towards early Monday morning with the potential of impacting the Monday AM commute especially over E/NE MA including the Boston-metro area
- Could be a quick burst of snow with minor accumulations of around 1 to 2 inches
- Again, travel impacts in regards to slick roadways and reductions to visibility
Uncertainty ...
Given a mixed precipitation event, there remains uncertainty with respect to precip-types at specific times over particular areas, as well as associated outcomes and impacts. We're forecasting the potential for precip-types to change on an hourly basis.
There will likely be adjustments to later forecasts and the possibility of the issuance of headlines, especially where freezing rain / ice accretion is expected. Stay tuned for further emails.
