Good afternoon,
Here is the latest on the snow event impacting Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The key takeaway is snow amounts have been increased from previous forecast across northern CT into northwest RI and northeast MA.

NEW:
- Winter Weather Advisory for all of northern CT including Hartford, Windham and Tolland counties
What's Changed:
- Increased snow amounts across northern CT from Hartford to the RI border to 2-4 inches of snow before mixing with sleet and then changing over the rain 5 pm to 8 pm
- Increased snow amounts across the northern portions of Middlesex and Essex counties where the Winter Weather Advisory has been posted. 2-4" expected here with highest totals likely along and near the NH border
What/Where/When: - Western and central MA snow heavy at times continue into this evening then tapering off between 11 pm and 2 am. Snow will accumulate 4-8 inches across the high elevations with 2-4 inches in the valleys. Locations that receive over 4 inches there is an increased risk of tree damage and isolated power outages given the heavy wet snow.
- Snow across RI and eastern MA (along and northwest of Boston to Providence) changes over to sleet and then rain between 5 pm and 8 pm with snow accumulations ranging from a coating up to 2 inches north and west of Boston to Providence. Snow accumulates mainly on the colder non paved surfaces with main roads remaining just wet
- Little if any snow southeast of Boston to Providence line
Uncertainty:
- The exact timing of the changeover and resulting duration of snow is somewhat uncertain. If the changeover is delayed by an hour or two snow totals will be slightly higher. Conversely if the changeover occurs quicker than forecast snow totals will be lower.
