A period of strong to damaging wind gusts are expected tonight into early Friday morning. *Headlines*: - High Wind Warning for easern Hampshire and Hampden counties MA & Hartford and Tolland counties CT from 9 PM tonight through 3 AM Friday morning - High Wind Warning for eastern Massachusetts & Rhode Island from 11 PM tonight through 6 AM Friday morning - Wind Advisory for Windham county CT and Worcester, Franklin, western Hampden and western Hampshire counties from 8 PM tonight through Noon on Friday - Storm Warnings for Narragansett Bay, Boston Harbor, Cape Cod Bay, and Massachusetts/Ipswich Bays in effect from 11 PM tonight through 6 AM Friday morning - Gale Warnings in effect for the remaining coastal waters through Friday *Details*: *Winds:* - *Timing and Peak Gusts:* - Strongest South winds will occur from 9 PM tonight through 8 AM Friday morning from west to east. - Expect gusts from 40-50 mph in the interior, with 50-60 mph possible across Rhode Island and eastern MA, including the Cape/Islands. - Another surge of strong west wind gusts to 40-50 mph are expected Friday morning, especially over the higher terrain in interior MA. - *Impacts:* Some tree damage with scattered power outages. - *Uncertainty:* There is still some uncertainty about how much of the strongest winds will mix to the ground. However, with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s this afternoon, the probability for the strong winds to reach the surface is high. There will also be a narrow line of heavy showers along the front, which will increase the likelihood of strong to damaging winds. *Rain:* - *Timing:* Expect areas of showers tonight and Thursday, but the heaviest rainfall, possibly accompanied by a rumble or two of thunder, will occur across western and central MA and northern CT. - *Amounts:* 0.5 to 1.25 inches, heaviest across western Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties. - *Impacts*: Limited. Isolated poor drainage flooding possible from leaf-clogged storm drains. - *Uncertainty*: Any thunder may enhance rainfall rates.
