All, Here is our latest thinking regarding *accumulating snow potential* Tuesday night into Wednesday. *What ...* accumulating snow, potential snow covered roads impacting the Wednesday morning commute *Where ..*. risk for accumulating snow is for all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island into northern Connecticut *When ..*. rain changes to snow Tuesday evening across northwest Massachusetts with the rain-snow line advancing southward Tuesday night across the remainder of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut overnight. *Impacts ...* accumulating snow may result in snow covered roads for the Wednesday morning commute. Snow amounts may be enough to shovel and plow by Wednesday morning. In addition wet roads Tuesday combined with falling temps Tuesday night may result in any residual moisture freezing causing icy spots. *Forecast Confidence ...* very low as this will likely be a narrow band of accumulating snow and is difficult at this time range to predict exactly where the heaviest amounts will occur. A shift in this snow band as little as 50 miles could result in most of the snow falling along the south coast or just offshore, while a 50 mile shift farther inland could result in the heaviest snow impacting much of MA, RI and CT. It's just too early to say with any certainty at this time range. However our attached maps communicate three possible scenarios - *1) Storm Total Snow* - most likely scenario 1-4" of snow across much of MA, RI and CT *2) Snow Amount 10% Percentile* - a 90% chance of at least a coating to an inch of snow for most of the region *3) Snow Amount 90% Percentile* - a 10% chance of 6-8" of snow somewhere across MA/RI/CT Keep in mind the axis of heaviest snow shown in these images is expected to change in later forecasts given the event is still 36-48 hours away.
