NWS Boston EM Briefing: Storm Update & Potential Snow Squalls/Strong Winds on Sunday
Good morning, the forecast remains on track with no significant changes. The threat of coastal flooding, freshwater flooding on area rivers, strong wind gusts at the coast, and dangerous marine conditions will persist through this morning. Improvements are expected late morning and into early afternoon, with rain clearing, tides receding, and winds easing. This afternoon will remain blustery with a west/southwest wind and gusts of 20 to 30 mph. Tomorrow, we anticipate that winds will continue to be blustery, possibly approaching wind advisory criteria in the afternoon. We also want to bring your attention to the possibility of snow squalls tomorrow afternoon associated with a strong cold front. While there's some uncertainty about the exact timing, it seems likely to occur in the early to mid-afternoon. There is potential for roads to quickly become snow-covered, leading to briefly near-zero visibility and hazardous travel. The greatest risk for this will be across the interior due to colder temperatures. Along the coastal plain, it may be mild enough for an initial mix with rain, resulting in most roads initially being wet.
