NWS Boston EM Briefing for Strong winds This Evening & Overnight
Good afternoon, Forecast confidence has increased on a line of heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms to impact the region this evening & overnight, accompanied by strong to damaging winds and brief heavy rainfall. As is always the case with thunderstorms, not every city or town will be impacted. Thus strong to damaging winds with these storms will be isolated. However if the line of storms becomes more intense, the probability of wind damage and power outages will increase. These heavy showers and thunderstorms will move across the area from 7 pm to 1 am from west to east. In addition, ahead of these storms, strong southerly winds will impact Rhode Island and central-eastern Massachusetts, including the cities of Boston and Providence. Wind Advisories remain posted for this region for wind gusts up to 50 mph. Please see the attached briefing for details.
