[05.16.2025 AM] NWS Boston/Norton: Thunderstorms Today and Saturday
Good morning, Following is an update to the weather briefing sent yesterday outlining the potential for strong thunderstorms today and Saturday. For today, the main risk area for thunderstorms lies across western Massachusetts and Connecticut mainly after 3 PM til sunset. It is possible that one or two could approach severe limits, but the majority of storms would not likely reach these levels. Confidence in the thunderstorm location and timing for today is rated as moderate to high, but is low on the chance of a storm or two becoming severe. Saturday is still the day we are most concerned for regarding the potential for severe weather, and while there is a threat for severe storms in most of Southern New England, the threat is slightly greater in western Massachusetts and Connecticut between noon and 9 PM. Confidence in the severe weather potential and timing for Saturday is rated as moderate - as cloud cover and possible showers/embedded thundershowers early in the morning could affect the afternoon severe weather risk.
