Good afternoon, We are closing tracking the potential for accumulating snowfall Friday night into Saturday morning. Confidence is not high enough to support any winter weather headlines, but they could be issued in later forecasts. We've attached graphics which include expected snowfall total and the chances of receiving 2 or more inches, and 4 or more inches of snow. *Details:* Light rain will develop across western Massachusetts late in the day Friday with precipitation overspreading Southern New England Friday evening. With cooler air moving south we will slowly change over to snow across Friday night, except across southern Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts where mainly rain is expected. The steadiest of the snow will fall across the border of Massachusetts and Connecticut/Rhode Island, then points north towards the Mass Pike and Route 2. Snow wraps up early Saturday morning before turning back over to light rain showers. *What:* Accumulation of wet/heavy snow. Generally 2 to 4 inches [near and north of the Mass Pike], with the highest snow totals to each 4-5" across the Berkshires. *Where:* Most of Massachusetts, northern Connecticut, northwestern Rhode Island. *When:* Rain changes over to snow from west to east after 8 p.m. and continues until early Saturday morning. *Impacts:* - Power outages possible from wet/heavy snow and tree/limb damage [where more than 4 inches of snowfall occurs]. - Slushy/icy untreated surfaces and secondary roads across higher terrain. *Confidence: *We are most confident in snowfall totals along and north of the Mass Pike. There is some uncertainty with snowfall totals in northern Connecticut and northwest Rhode Island where snowfall totals could end up lower than currently forecasted. **Note:* Please consider the snow accumulation as *preliminary* and are subject to further adjustments.
