Good morning.
Here is the updated information on the winter weather event that will
affect the region tonight through most of Wednesday:
*HEADLINES*: A *Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for interior south
central Massachusetts, most of Rhode Island and northern Connecticut for
tonight through midday Wednesday*. This will be when the steadiest snow
will fall across these areas.
*WHAT TO EXPECT AND WHEN*: Rain will start across western areas this
afternoon, then will push across the remainder of the region through this
evening. As colder air works in tonight, the rain will change to snow from
west to east, reaching most of the south coast by daybreak Wednesday. The
snow and/or sleet will reach Cape Cod and the islands Wednesday morning.
*WHERE: * Accumulating snow is expected for all of Massachusetts, Rhode
Island into northern Connecticut, except the islands. The best chance will
occur across
*IMPACTS*:
- The snow will likely result in snow covered roads for the Wednesday
morning commute.
- Snow amounts may be enough to shovel and plow by Wednesday morning.
- Wet roads may linger into tonight and, as the colder temperatures move
in, may result in any leftover moisture freezing on untreated roads causing
icy spots.
*FORECAST CONFIDENCE*: Our current thinking is the band of higher
accumulating snow mainly south of the Mass Pike into northern Connecticut,
most of Rhode Island and interior S central Mass. However, this band could
shift a bit north or south as we get closer to the changeover tonight.
Please monitor updates to our forecasts and any changes to our winter
weather headlines through the remainder of the day and into tonight.
Attached please find the latest forecast snow accumulation and the location
of the Winter Weather Advisory.
