[Weather] Icing Potential Wednesday Night Into Thursday Morning

Good morning everyone.  Despite the unseasonably mild weather today into
Tuesday afternoon, colder weather along with the threat for a period of
icing exists Wednesday night into Thursday morning mainly northwest of the
Boston to Providence corridor.  We will include a brief outline of
expectations and also attach an image showing potential ice accretion
amounts.

*WHAT: *
- Freezing rain possibly mixed with sleet.

*WHERE: *
- Mainly northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor and especially
across the interior high terrain of Massachusetts.

*WHEN:   *
- The threat for icing will be mainly Wednesday night into Thursday
morning.   While exact timing remains uncertain, it appears that the icing
potential will occur after the Wednesday evening commute but may impact the
Thursday morning rush hour.

*IMPACTS:*
- The main concern is the potential for icy roads Wednesday night into
Thursday morning, especially across the higher terrain of Massachusetts.

*UNCERTAINTY: *
- High confidence that a period of icing impacts the higher terrain of
Massachusetts.
- Greater uncertainty exists on whether a period of icing impacts the lower
elevations near the Boston to Providence to Hartford corridor.
- Ice accretion amounts are uncertain, but odds of exceeding one quarter of
an inch anywhere in southern New England are low at this time.  Therefore,
the threat for tree damage and scattered power outages is also rather low.
