[Weather] [2019.01.20 AM NWS Boston Weather Briefing] Power Outage Concerns/Flash Freeze Followed By Bitterly Cold Wind Chills

Good morning everyone,

Attached is our updated briefing package. We will also include a brief
outline on the main concerns through Monday morning.

*Highlights:*

   - Accumulating snow is pretty much is over from this storm by 7 am.
   Along and southeast of the Boston to Providence corridor, heavy rain and
   some street flooding is the concern this morning. Minor coastal flooding
   expected too with the high astronomical tide.


   - Freezing rain mixed with sleet at times will be the main concern this
   morning through the afternoon northwest of the Boston to Providence
   corridor.


   - Growing concern for 0.25" to 0.50" of ice accretion across portions of
   the interior, especially in the CT River Valley, Worcester Hills and
   interior northeast MA. Scattered power outages and downed trees a concern.


   - Flash Freeze occurs along and southeast of the Boston to Providence
   corridor between noon and 5 pm. Exact timing uncertain, but a rapid drop of
   temperatures into the 20s will occur resulting in hazardous travel.


   - Bitterly cold wind chills of 15 to 25 below zero anticipated later
   tonight into Monday morning near and northwest of the Boston to Providence
   corridor.  Wind chills between 25 and 30 below zero across the east slopes
   of the Berks.

*Confidence:*

   - High confidence in freezing rain and sleet through the afternoon
   across much of interior southern New England. Precipitation ends between 4
   and 8 pm this evening.


   - Uncertainty revolves around specific amounts of freezing rain and
   extent of tree damage/power outage threat.


   - Flash freeze expected along and southeast of the Boston to Providence
   corridor between noon and 5 pm, but exact timing uncertain.


   -  High confidence in bitterly cold wind chills tonight into Monday
   morning.
