Good afternoon.
The coastal low pressure will continue to develop off the mid Atlantic this
evening, impacting southern New England tonight into Friday night. As the
low moves away Friday night into Saturday, strong westerly winds will
develop. Details are below.
*Changes:*
- Winter Weather Advisory for western Franklin and western Hampshire
counties from late this evening through Friday night
- Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for eastern Massachusetts coast
around midday Friday
- Gale Warnings in effect for the southern waters Friday afternoon,
expanding across the remaining waters during Friday night, then continuing
through Saturday
*Winter Weather:*
- Potential for 1 to 2 inches of slushy snow accumulation across the
highest terrain of NW Massachusetts tonight
- High confidence for brief heavy snowfall across NW Massachusetts,
mainly Friday night especially across the higher elevations
- Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches across the lower elevations, with the
potential of 4 to 8 inches over the highest terrain especially across
northwest Franklin county, most falling during Friday night
- Potential for localized power outages where snowfall exceeds 5 inches
*Coastal Flooding:*
- Minor coastal flooding along the eastern Massachusetts coast during
the early Friday afternoon high tide
- Some vulnerable shore roads may experience minor flooding around high
tide
*Marine:*
- Strong West wind gusts to 40 knots develop late Friday and continue
through midday Saturday
- Seas will build to 10 to 15 feet offshore
