[Weather] NWS Boston 11/17 Afternoon Briefing: Coastal Storm Impacts Tonight Into Monday

BOX Operations - NOAA Service Account box.operations at noaa.gov
Sun Nov 17 20:59:00 UTC 2019

Good afternoon everyone,

We did expand the winter weather advisory to include all of our area just
to the northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor. While some spotty
freezing drizzle is possible this evening, there is a higher risk for
pockets of light freezing rain/freezing drizzle after midnight and into
Monday morning. Biggest concern is the Monday morning commute where
untreated roads may be icy. Pockets of minor coastal flooding are still
expected during the Monday afternoon high tide along the eastern MA coast,
but impacts will just be some brief flooding of some typically vulnerable
shoreline roads. Wind Advisories are also in effect for the Cape/Islands,
but speeds will not be high enough to result in significant problems.

*Changes From This Morning's Brieflings: *

   - *Winter Weather Advisory Expanded [*Tonight Into Monday Morning]: The
Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded to also include interior
northeast MA as well as southwest MA, northern CT and northwest RI.
