Good morning everyone,
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued to the northwest of the Boston to
Providence corridor late Saturday and Saturday night. This includes
western, central and northeast MA, as well as northern CT and northwest
RI. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for southern Connecticut
Saturday into Saturday night.
We will include a brief outline of our expectations in this email. Also,
the approximate arrival time of the snow on Saturday along with the current
Winter Weather Headlines and expected snowfall amounts will also be
attached.
*WHAT/WHERE/WHEN:*
*- *Winter Storm Watch Issued for western/central and northeast MA, as well
as northern CT and northwest RI late Sat into Sat night.
- Winter Weather Advisory Issued for southern CT Saturday into Saturday
night.
- Snow overspreads southern New England from west to east between 2 and 5
PM Saturday.
- Bulk of the accumulating snow occurs late Saturday through Saturday
evening.
- Potential exists for 4 to 7 inches of snow in the Winter Storm Watch
area, generally northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor. Up to 8
inches are possible across portions of the Berkshires.
- Along and southeast of the Boston to Providence corridor, 2 to 4
inches of snow are expected. This also includes southern CT, where a
Winter Weather Advisory has been issued.
*IMPACTS:*
*- *Snow develops between 2 and 5 PM Saturday from west to east and sticks
immediately on roadways with temps well below freezing. This includes the
Boston to Providence corridor.
- Bulk of accumulating snow occurs late Saturday into Saturday evening,
when 1 inch per hour snowfall rates are possible.
- Untreated roads will be snow-covered and slippery Saturday evening along
with poor visibility at times.
- Bulk of accumulating snow ends after midnight, but lighter snow/freezing
drizzle may persist across the interior. Snow probably ends as light
rain/drizzle along and southeast of the Boston to Providence corridor after
midnight.
- Temperatures rise above freezing Sunday morning in all locations.
*CONFIDENCE:*
*- *High confidence in a plowable snow across the region late Saturday into
Saturday night including the Boston to Providence corridor.
- High confidence that the bulk of the accumulating snow occurs late
Saturday into Saturday evening.
- While we have high confidence in accumulating snow across the region,
specific amounts remain uncertain.
- We currently expect 4 to 7 inches of snow northwest of the Boston to
Providence corridor with 2 to 4 inches along and southeast of the Boston to
Providence corridor.
- If the storm ends up weaker/milder, snowfall totals would be in the 2 to
4 inch range in most locations. If the storm ends up a bit stronger, some
5 to 6 inch amounts would be possible further southeast onto the Boston to
Providence corridor.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. An updated to
this email will be sent by late afternoon.
Thank You
Meteorologist: Hayden Frank
