BOX Operations - NOAA Service Account box.operations at noaa.gov
Wed Sep 1 08:23:45 UTC 2021

Good morning everyone,

Attached is our latest one-page briefing and supporting graphics regarding
the potential for heavy rainfall and significant flooding tonight and into
Thursday. This may cause impacts such as road closures and washouts, as
well as impact Thursday morning commuters.

No major changes since the last briefing. Flash flood watch remains in
effect. Highest rainfall amounts are still forecast for areas south of
I-90. Isolated rainfall amounts up to 7" are not out of the question.

Heavy rainfall and potential for flooding continues to be* the greatest
risk *in this event. A possibility remains for strong thunderstorms late
tonight into Thursday. These may carry with them a low probability of brief
tornadoes or thunderstorm-related wind damage. The best chance for
experiencing strong thunderstorms is along south coastal Southern New
England and Cape Cod, highlighted in the area in forest green on the
attached Thunderstorm Outlook graphic from the Storm Prediction Center.

Outside of the thunderstorm threat, there is also the potential for 30-40
mph wind gusts across eastern MA very early Thursday morning. With
saturated grounds and fully leaved trees, downed trees and power outages
will be possible.

Thank You,

Meteorologists: Rob Megnia and Hayden Frank
