Good afternoon everyone,
As we are working on updating the forecast this afternoon, we wanted to
share with you some of the changes and highlights, which include -
- A wind advisory may be needed for Cape Cod and Nantucket for tonight
and Wednesday, with northeast winds gusting up to 45 to 50 mph at times.
Given trees are fully leaved, this may be sufficient for minor tree
damage/down branches.
- Beneficial rains are likely for this region but with up to an inch of
rain possible in spots, nuisance poor drainage flooding is possible.
Furthermore, if the area of low pressure tracks farther west, even higher
amounts are possible.
- Still some uncertainty how far west the rain shield will track.
Highest confidence for beneficial rains is across Cape Cod & the islands,
then eastern MA, and possibly westward into RI, eastern CT and the
Worcester Hills.
- Astronomical tides are fairly low and combined with strongest winds,
highest seas and maximum storm surge likely occurring at low tide
Wednesday, we are not expecting much if any inundation/coastal flooding.
Another email will be sent later this afternoon with forecast graphics.
Frank Nocera, Kevin Cadima and Torry Gaucher
