[Weather] NWS Boston - Guide to Winter Weather Forecast/Information Products

Emergency Managers and Federal/State/Local Agency Decision Makers,

With winter weather right around the corner, we wanted to make sure each of
you were aware of various NWS produced winter weather focused products that
are available to you to assist in your planning and decision making
process. The attached guide provides a summary of what is available,
whether it's a situation about making decisions about a winter storm that
is 12 hours from beginning or being able to have an awareness for the risk
of significant winter storms 14 days from now --- and everything in between.

The full suite of NWS winter product services that are available to you
come from the collective expertise and experience of the meteorologists
here at the NWS Boston office, our neighboring sister offices in Albany,
Brookhaven/NYC and our national center offices (Weather Prediction Center
and the Climate Prediction Center).   Given the number of different
products that each focus on providing the best information for the
different types of needs (eg: tactical decision making, strategic decision
making or just situational awareness), the Winter Weather Program team here
at the office felt that having a guide to summarize those products would be
very beneficial -- and the attached guide is a result of their work.
