[Weather] NWS Boston Wed Morning EM Briefing: Wintry Mix Friday

BOX Operations - NOAA Service Account box.operations at noaa.gov
Wed Feb 2 08:50:01 UTC 2022

Good morning everyone,

Attached is the updated briefing regarding the potential for rain changing
to a wintry mix of sleet and snow and a possible flash freeze Friday
morning.

*What Has Changed:*
- Winter Storm Watch issued for Massachusetts near and north of the Mass
Pike (I-90).
- Increasing confidence on higher snow/sleet totals in the Watch area,
especially along and north of Route 2.
- Watch was also issued for the possibility of significant travel impacts
since the timing of the changeover and flash freeze should coincide with
the morning commute.
- Travel impacts are possible outside of the Watch area but our
confidence is lower.

Note that the snowfall forecast (also attached) includes snow and sleet
accumulations. It's possible some locations experience sleet for a few
hours before a change to snow.

Thanks,
Joe DelliCarpini and Kevin Cadima
