[Weather] [2022.01.19 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Strong Winds Today; Accumulating Snow Thursday

Good morning,

We are monitoring a couple periods of hazardous weather for today and
tomorrow: strong southwest wind gusts this afternoon, and a rain to minor
accumulating snow event Thursday with possible travel impacts to Thursday
morning travel.

*Today: Strong Wind Gusts*

We are still expecting a period of gusty southwest winds between 30 to 40
mph to develop this afternoon across most of Southern New England.

However strong wind gusts to 50 mph are anticipated across coastal
southeast New England and Block Island. A Wind Advisory is in effect for
these locations from noon to 600 PM today.

The following graphic illustrates the Wind Advisory area:

*Unless there are significant changes, this will be the last update
regarding strong wind gusts.*



*Thursday: Accumulating Snow*

We expect initial rain or rain/snow late overnight tonight to change to all
snow into Thursday morning. While minor snow accumulations are expected,
some impact to Thursday morning travel is possible.

Winter Weather Advisories *may* be needed if greater snow accumulations are
expected.

Find attached a one-page briefing packet and expected storm total snow
accumulations. We have also attached an animated loop which provides some
timing information on rain to snow transitions and when snow is expected to
end.

Expect an update for this accumulating snow event *by 6 PM Wednesday*.
