Good afternoon,

Following is a short update regarding the mid-March winter storm currently
affecting Southern New England to keep you informed of current conditions
and forecast expectations.

*Changes Since Last Briefing*:

   - *Wind Advisory* now in effect for all of Massachusetts, Connecticut
and Rhode Island EXCEPT for Litchfield County in Connecticut and Berkshire
County in Massachusetts until early Sunday.

*Key Points:*

   - Rain will fall heavy at times through 200 PM for eastern and
   southeastern Massachusetts.
   - Initial rains have already changed to snow for locations near and west
of Worcester. Snow is still expected to fall heavy at times across portions
of northern and western Connecticut and western and central Massachusetts
through late this afternoon. Expect deteriorating travel conditions to be
mainly confined to these areas. There have been no significant change to
the forecast snow accumulations or winter weather advisories, with the
highest snow totals expected across the higher terrain in the Berkshires,
northern Worcester and Litchfield and northern Tolland Counties.
   - Across eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, transition from rain to
wet snow should take place between mid to late this afternoon, although
lighter, less-intense snowfall rates will make for wet pavement with little
   if any travel difficulties.
   - As colder air surges eastward, northwest wind gusts will increase to
40 to 50 mph by late this afternoon into early tonight, with gusts at these
levels continuing through early Sunday. Minor wind damage is possible, but
especially across western sections of Massachusetts and Connecticut as
   trees become snow covered.

Thank You!

Meteorologists: Andrew Loconto, Hayden Frank and Rodney Chai
