[Weather] [2023.03.03 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Impactful Winter Weather Tonight into Saturday

Fri Mar 3 09:47:09 UTC 2023

Good morning,

Attached is the latest one page briefing and supporting graphics regarding
a winter storm that is expected to impact southern New England late tonight
into tomorrow morning. Confidence continues to grow that there will be
moderate impact snow accumulations north of the I-90 corridor especially
along and north of route 2. Little changes have been made to the snowfall
forecast since yesterday's briefing, but we have made the following
headline changes.

   - Winter storm watch has been upgraded to a winter storm warning for the
areas north of I-90 away from the coast
   - Winter weather advisory in effect for Suffolk, Middlesex, and Essex
counties east of the I-95 corridor, as well as the areas south of I-90 and
west of I-495 away from the coast
   - Wind advisory in effect for east coast, Cape, and The Islands

Timing for the system has slowed down by about an hour two which has
further enhanced our confidence that impacts will not begin until AFTER the
Friday evening commute. Animations of estimated timing for snowfall rates
and precipitation type are attached.

We will provide a final briefing later this afternoon. If you have any
questions in the meantime please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

Rob Megnia and Matt Belk
