Good morning,
As we approach the upcoming three-day weekend, we'd like to draw your
attention to the potential return of summertime heat in the early to
mid-part of next week. Although we are now in the first week of September,
it appears that afternoon temperatures are poised to climb back into the
middle and upper 80s, with isolated areas possibly reaching 90°F. This
increase in temperature will be accompanied by rising dewpoint temperatures
and elevated levels of relative humidity, making it feel as though
temperatures are in the low to mid-90s on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
We kindly request that you keep an eye on your emails over the weekend. If
our confidence in this forecast continues to grow, it's not outside the
realm of possibility that a Heat Advisory may be necessary for select areas
of southern New England. As of now, no official advisories or warnings have
been issued.
Attached below, you will find the maximum heat index forecast, which
indicates the highest expected heat index values.
Lastly, for your reference, here are the criteria for a Heat Advisory:
Daytime heat indices of 95°F to 99°F for two or more hours over two
consecutive days, or 100°F to 104°F for two or more hours over one day.
We will issue an updated email by 5:00 AM, Saturday.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
- Torry Dooley and Andrew Loconto
