[Weather] [2024.07.13 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing Localized Flooding Today Followed By Dangerous Heat & Humidity Monday through Wednesday

Good morning everyone

A Flood Watch remains in effect today for most of southern New
England...excluding the Cape and Islands. Showers and a few thunderstorms
will bring the risk for localized flooding. The greatest risk for this
appears to be south of the MA Turnpike...where localized areas may see 1 to
2 inches of rain within an hour. While any flooding will be localized...the
greatest risk exists if these heavier bands occur over any vulnerable urban
center.

Otherwise...the main concern shifts to the return of Dangerous Heat and
Humidity for the first half of next week. The heat will begin to return on
Sunday, but the greater concern will be in the Monday through Wednesday
time frame when the humidity arrives too. This is when afternoon Heat
Indices of 95 to 105 degrees are expected...with Tuesday and Wednesday
expected to be the worst of the heat and humidity. A cold front will bring
relief from the Heat and Humidity by Thursday and Friday.

Attached is a brief one-pager detailing the localized flood threat today,
followed by the Dangerous Heat and Humidity during the first half of the
upcoming week. We have attached the expected Heat Indices for Sunday,
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
