[Weather] [2024.03.27 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Additional Rainfall to renew River Flooding Concerns

BOX Operations - NOAA Service Account box.operations at noaa.gov
Wed Mar 27 19:32:27 UTC 2024

Good afternoon,

A rainmaker will impact southern New England starting tomorrow morning,
with a long fused 1-2" of rain expected for much of the region. Up to 3" of
rain is possible across eastern MA and portions of RI.

Given very wet antecedent conditions, should the above forecast rainfall
totals verify, river flooding concerns are likely to be renewed across RI
and portions of SE MA. Concerns are particularly elevated for the
Pawcatuck, Pawtuxet, and Wood Rivers in southern and central Rhode Island.
Thus, a flood watch has been issued for central and eastern Massachusetts,
Rhode Island, and northeastern Connecticut.

Kind regards,

Matt Belk, Bill Leatham, and Kristie Smith
