[Weather] [2025.12.12 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Accumulating Snow Possible Later Saturday night into Sunday

Good morning everyone...

This is just a heads up email on the potential for accumulating snow later
Saturday night into Sunday. Preliminary snowfall forecast indicates the
potential for 1-2" south of I-90 with perhaps a localized swath of 3-4"
near the south coast. Current indications are for only a dusting to 1" of
snow north of I-90. The bulk of the accumulating snow should end by Sunday
afternoon...except towards the Cape and Islands where snow may linger into
Sunday afternoon and evening.

There remains uncertainty on the northern extent of the main snow shield.
If this were to shift further north than expected...the potential for 1-2"
would extend into northern MA with 3-5" south of I-90. A shift further
south than expected would result in little if any snow
north of I-90 and only a coating to 1" south of I-90.

We have attached a brief one-pager along with a graphic of our
preliminary snowfall forecast. The main idea right now is that areas south
of I-90 and especially near the south coast stand the greatest chance for a
few inches of snow. Temperatures below freezing will result in untreated
roads likely becoming snow covered and slippery very late Saturday night
into Sunday morning.  We will have an update forecast out by late this
afternoon.
