Good afternoon,
With the holiday weekend ahead, we wanted to provide an early heads-up
regarding the arrival of the coldest air yet experienced to this point in
the winter season which is set to arrive in Southern New England Monday and
continuing through at least Wednesday. This will lead to a period of well
below normal temperatures and the potential for low wind chills.
Attached graphics include forecast high and low temperatures for Monday
through Wednesday, as well as the probabilities of experiencing sub-zero
wind chills and the probabilities of experiencing wind chills of 10 below
or colder for Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast confidence is high on below normal temperatures, although how
low wind chills may reach is less clear as these will depend on expected
wind speeds.
We are also monitoring the potential for a minor-accumulating snowfall
preceding the colder air for Sunday evening into Monday, although
confidence in the details specific to this potential system are low at this
time.
Unless there are significant changes that would warrant otherwise, expect
the next update to this briefing to be sent *by late Thursday afternoon*.
Thank You!
