[Weather] [2025.07.23 PM] - NWS Boston/Norton EM Briefing: Late-Week Heat & Severe Weather

Good afternoon,

Following is an update to the briefing sent this morning regarding elevated
to dangerous heat indices late this week, along with a risk for severe
thunderstorms Friday.

*Changes Since Last Briefing:* Heat Advisories are in effect for Friday
from 11 AM - 8 PM for a large portion of Southern Connecticut.

Although we still expect heat indices to become elevated tomorrow in the
mid 90s, dangerous heat indices remain expected on Friday, with values in
the 95 to 103 degree range with isolated values of 105+ degrees. We may
also see elevated heat indices in the mid 90s along the RI and MA South
Coast Friday, but southwest winds off the water may cut into the heat to an
extent.

Strong thunderstorms are possible on Friday as well, capable of localized
straight-line wind damage as well as torrential rainfall capable of
isolated instances of street flooding. Although there are still some
details to iron out, a best estimate for the arrival of these storms is
between 3 and 10 PM.
