Good afternoon,
Attached is our updated one-page briefing highlighting the potential for
flooding across portions of southern New England from this afternoon
through early Friday afternoon.
A *Flood Watch* remains posted for the entire state of Connecticut from 2
PM Thursday through 8 AM Friday. *The end time of this Watch is now 6 hours
earlier*. This watch may be expanded if confidence increases in higher
rainfall totals across neighboring Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island.
We continue to anticipate widespread rainfall of 1–2 inches, with localized
totals of 3–4 inches possible. Areas receiving 3–4 inches are at the
greatest risk for flooding, particularly the hilly terrain of northern and
western Connecticut. While rises on small streams and creeks to bankfull
are possible, no flooding is anticipated on mainstem rivers.
Drier conditions are expected by Friday afternoon and will continue into
the upcoming weekend.
You can expect your next briefing by *8 AM Thursday*.
