[Weather] [2026.01.16 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Interior Snow Very Late Tonight Into Saturday

Good afternoon,

Attached is our one-pager briefing regarding the incoming snow for tonight
through Saturday afternoon. We want to reiterate that this is primarily an
interior northern and western Massachusetts event. You will also find a
snowfall map and our current winter weather headlines.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 AM to 7 PM Saturday for
portions of central and western Massachusetts, where our confidence in
snowfall is greatest. We expect widespread accumulations of 2–4 inches,
with locally higher amounts up to 6 inches across the Berkshires. We are
confident there will be no impacts for eastern Massachusetts and Rhode
Island, as temperatures will remain warm enough for rain only.

We continue to monitor a secondary, quick-hitting system for Sunday
afternoon into Sunday night. While uncertainty remains, guidance is
reaching better agreement regarding accumulating snowfall across parts of
eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. More will become available in
subsequent briefings.
