[Weather] [2026.01.16 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Round 2 of Snow Sunday into Sunday Night

Good afternoon,

We are providing an update on the ongoing snowfall across southern New
England. Snow is expected to end over the next few hours, with conditions
improving from west to east between 4 PM and 7 PM. Consequently, Winter
Weather Advisories for portions of central and western Massachusetts will
expire this evening.

While there will be a lull in activity tonight, a new Winter Weather
Advisory has been issued for eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and all
of Connecticut for Sunday into Sunday night.

Attached is our updated one-pager briefing for this upcoming coastal storm.
Snow is anticipated to begin Sunday morning into the afternoon, with the
steadiest and most impactful accumulation occurring late Sunday afternoon
and evening, particularly across southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Precipitation should end after midnight.

Expected Snowfall Totals:

- 3–5" (Localized amounts of 6"): Southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
- 2–4": Northern Connecticut through central and northeast Massachusetts.
- 1–2": Northwest Massachusetts.

Our next forecast update will be issued by 5 AM on Sunday.
