A Winter Weather Advisory also remains in effect until 10 am Tuesday for the western Mohawk Valley, the southern Adirondacks, the Taconics, Lake George Saratoga region, Taconics, Berkshires and northern Litchfield County, mainly above 1000 feet elevation. Light precipitation will develop across the region late this evening. Across the Advisory area, this will be a wintry mix, including some freezing rain. This freezing rain will result in a light accretion of ice, leading to slippery travel overnight. All areas of the region look to see any rain or light wintry mix transition over towards snow by sunrise Tuesday, with a light accumulation of snow (mainly an inch or less) for all of eastern NY and western New England. This could result in slippery travel, including during the morning commute, before precipitation tapers off by mid-morning Tuesday. A briefing is attached, including updated snowfall and ice totals.
