Dear Emergency Managers and other partners, A storm system will impact the region Thursday afternoon into Friday, producing mainly rain across the region, along with some wet snow across higher elevations of the southwest Adirondacks and southern Vermont. Depending on the exact track of the storm system, there is a possibility that moderate snowfall amounts could occur across portions of the southwest Adirondacks. If this potential increases, then Winter Weather Advisories would be issued. In addition, strong west to northwest winds will develop in the wake of the storm system for Friday afternoon through Saturday. Wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph appear likely. If the potential for stronger wind gusts exceeding 45 mph increases, then Wind Advisories would be issued. Attached are images depicting the possible highest end snowfall accumulations, the possible minimum snow accumulations, as well as the most likely (and current forecast) snowfall accumulations for this upcoming snowfall event.
